DELOS

Status: Active

Mission Statement

DELOS will demonstrate a heat responsive radiator actuator in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and characterize the effect of the LEO environment on a quantum-dot hot electron generation system on the TAMU-SPIRIT facility.

Project Overview

DELOS is a dual-payload experiment housed in a Pallet Carrier on the Zenith face of TAMU-SPIRIT. One of the payloads is a Shape Memory Alloy demonstration of a torque-tube-based SMA morphing radiator thermal management system. The second payload is exposure and performance analysis of a series of quantum dot substrates in the LEO environment. Quantum dot substrates are an Indium-Tin oxide and copper plate with space in between for hot electrons to flow as the oxide is stimulated by UV light. Both of these payloads will advance the TRL of their respective technologies and allow for further advancement in space applications.

Project Conclusion

DELOS is flight-selected for SPIRIT-1 and will be delivered to Aegis for integration in Fall 2026.
